Meet the Team

Real people, reliable tech, and 20 years of experience.

At the heart of Black Owl are Tim and Matthew—a duo dedicated to taking the stress out of your technology.

Tim Neville is our Director of Hosted Solutions. If it lives online, Tim handles it. With a deep background in websites and hosting, he’s the meticulous expert who ensures your digital presence is fast, secure, and professional.

Matthew Taylor, our Director of IT Services, is the strategist who keeps your day-to-day operations running. He builds the IT infrastructures that power our clients’ businesses and schools.

Together, they bring over two decades of expertise—with a special focus on the education sector—to deliver honest, jargon-free solutions that actually work for you.

Our Story

From a single website to a full-service tech partner.

Black Owl started with a simple goal: helping one customer get online. Armed with a basic website builder and a lot of determination, Tim Neville launched our first project years ago. That small start taught us the most important lesson in tech—it’s not about the tools you use, but the people you’re helping.

Since then, we’ve grown into much more than a web developer. We’ve adapted and evolved to meet the needs of schools, businesses, and homes, becoming a trusted pair of hands for everything from IT support to secure hosting. We’ve traded those “humble beginnings” for decades of expertise, but we’ve never lost that original drive to just make tech work better for our clients.

2012

The company launched as “Timothy Neville Website Design and Maintenance,” expanding into WordPress websites and essential site maintenance. This shift broadened its clientele and deepened web development expertise.

2015

A remarkable rebrand gave birth to “Black Owl.” More than just a name change, it symbolised a commitment to excellence and innovation. Under Black Owl, the company consistently impressed clients with creative web solutions and sustained growth.

2021

Black Owl ventured into IT services and Managed Service Provider (MSP) solutions, offering comprehensive tech solutions. Today, Black Owl’s excellence and customer focus extend to schools and educational settings, highlighting its versatility. Based in Coalville, it continues to grow and impact the tech and education sectors.

2023

Black Owl moved into its first office at The Springboard Centre, enhancing its ability to meet with clients and offer expanded services, while also becoming a Nominet Member and Nominet Channel Accredited Partner.

2024

Black Owl settle into The Forest Rock Offices, offering improved client meeting spaces and work facilities, while also establishing a Microsoft CSP partnership and collaborating with providers like Friendly WiFi to enhance its services.

2025

2025 saw us take on bigger challenges, from a school’s total hardware refresh to projects as far as Berwick-upon-Tweed. We also deepened our expertise with advanced Azure training and a strategic Smoothwall partnership to bring our clients the very best in modern web filtering.

Our environmental commitment

The climate crisis has never been more apparent than now, and we want to leave the environment in a better state than we found it. So as of February 2021, we are working with Ecologi to offset CO2 emissions and plant more trees across the globe. The Ecologi widget shows how many trees we have planted, and you can click to view our forest.

We are also taking other measures – such as using renewable energy sources, reducing e-waste, recycling packaging, and more.
